Our MK50 Photo Book sponsors explain why they got involved

September 18, 2016

With last week's announcement of Xscape as the 10th, and lead, sponsor for the MK50 photography book, now seemed like a good time to look back and see exactly why each of our sponsors made the decision to come on board, and to help make this book a reality.

The following quotes come from each of the 10 press releases which were issued as each one became a sponsor, and together they make quite a powerful argument!

We are still looking for more sponsors, so if you'd like to be added to the list, please get in touch, or click here to find out more. And in the meantime, a huge thank you to everyone who has helped us to get this far. The book has now gone into production and you can read more on that here.

“We jumped at the chance to be sponsors of this book – as the most iconic building in the City, images of Xscape are used nationally and beyond as a symbol of MK. It’s a natural fit for us to be involved in this brilliant project, and we can’t wait to see it complete!”
Carl Meale – General Manager, Xscape MK

“The Open University is proud of its heritage and strives to be a good citizen of Milton Keynes through strong local relationships. The OU is one of MK’s largest employers, with thousands of staff living locally and advocating the strong community values of the city. I very much look forward to seeing these values captured by this exciting project.”
Steve Hill – Director of External Engagement, The Open University

“We wanted to be involved with the MK50 Photography Book project after I had my first 1-2-1 photography lesson from Gill – having initially contacted her on Twitter because I loved her photos. As we love living and working in MK too, it seemed natural to want to be a part of the project, and we are so happy to be able to do it!”
Vanessa Cook – Owner, Riverford in Milton Keynes

"Daisy and I are delighted to support this project which promotes a town and area that we have come to know and love over the past 10 years. We have actively looked to utilise local people and resources as we have developed our business and by getting involved with this project we are able to give something back to a place that has given us so much."
Terry Bogg – Director, Daisy Bogg Consultancy

“The MK50 photography book project is a fantastic way to celebrate just how far Milton Keynes has progressed. When I was cycling the MK redways in training preparation for the 2015 London to Paris bike challenge, I realised just how beautiful the landscape of Milton Keynes really is. It's well planned with man-made lakes, children's play areas in all residential parts, and recreation for all walks of life - including indoor skiing, the state of the art Stadium MK and the shopping centre. It has come a long way from only having associations with concrete cows!”
Yash Tosar – Managing Director, 1st Financial Foundations

“As residents of Milton Keynes since 1994, my wife Sonya and I have loved raising our family here, while watching the development and growth of the city over this time. Now, as an employer of 250 local people in Milton Keynes, we are committed to giving back to the communities within which our restaurants trade, and we take our responsibilities very seriously in this regard. Gill’s superb photography of the city and its parks and open spaces, has caught our attention over recent times - and we are proud to support such a wonderful project, as MK unites to celebrate 50 glorious years.”
Ken Tomkins – MK Franchisee, McDonald’s

“As a creative and digital agency in Milton Keynes we all appreciate the value of great quality photography. So it's only natural that when a project such as this comes around, we're keen to promote and to support it. We know first-hand the quality of Gill's work, and combined with our love of Milton Keynes, we're excited to eventually hold in our hands the finished product. We're delighted and proud to be a sponsor.”
Richard Bateman – Managing Director, westfourstreet

“We absolutely adore this city and cannot wait for the publication of the MK50 Photography Book! Milton Keynes is such a fascinating place, but with so much of our beauty hidden away it, seeing it all in this book will be incredible. I’m sure this will be something that, on the 100th birthday, the city will look back on and cherish - so it’s a privilege to be involved in the project.”
Oliver Dean - Managing Director, MK21 Digital

“This is an excellent opportunity for MK Business Leaders Partnership to be involved in celebrating 50 years since the official designation of Milton Keynes. The donation forms part of our annual programme of support to creative business projects in the city and we hope this book will be a resounding success - and also a lasting reminder of a landmark in our city's history.”
Dr Philip Smith MBE – Chairman, MKBLP

“Having heard about the book from Gill, we felt that it would be a very worthwhile and exciting project to be involved with, as part of the business community in Milton Keynes. We are very much looking forward to seeing the finished publication later this year.”
Mark White – CEO, SEKO Logistics
